Given below are two statements :
Statement (I) : Alcohols are formed when alkyl chlorides are treated with aqueous potassium hydroxide by elimination reaction.
Statement (II) : In alcoholic potassium hydroxide, alkyl chlorides form alkenes by abstracting the hydrogen from the β-carbon.
